“Out of the ash

I rise with my red hair

And I eat men like air.”

—- Sylvia Plath, “Lady Lazarus”

Terror Nova is a demonic cabaret that tells stories of female body regulation and pain through folklore and narratives of female ghosts. Inspired by feminist horror, the performance uses archetypal characters to depict historical forms of regulation such as foot-binding and corsets. By forcing the audience to witness the pain and torture imposed upon the female body, it explores the power dynamic between audience and performer and questions the intricacies of gaze.

The performance also held a costumes and props exhibition at Goldsmiths Textile Collection.
